Manchester United Boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Will Get Financial Backing, Says Ed Woodward

Image result for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, will get the financial backing to bring success back to the club, says executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

United finished sixth in the Premier League this season.

"The strength of our business means we have the financial resources to continue to provide backing for the manager and creating success on the pitch," said Woodward.

"This as ever remains our number one goal."

Solskjaer took over as caretaker United boss in December following the sacking of Jose Mourinho and the club went on a run of 11 games without defeat, of which they won 10.

However, after the Norwegian was appointed on a permanent basis in March, his side's form collapsed and they finished five points off the top four having won only two of their last nine games.

Solskjaer, whose side were 32 points adrift of champions Manchester City, has said it will "take a long time" for Manchester United to challenge for the Premier League title again.

The Old Trafford club last won the title in 2012-13, in Sir Alex Ferguson's last season in charge, while it is now two seasons without a trophy after the Europa League and League Cup triumphs in 2016-17.

"While the last few weeks were disappointing, we are delighted to have confirmed the appointment of Ole as our manager on a three-year contract," said Woodward.

"Everyone at the club - the board, the manager, the squad and all the staff are resolute in our desire to get United back to the top of English football, we continually look to improve staff on and off the pitch to achieve this."

California Bill To Expand Privacy Protections Fails

Related image
California’s senate blocked a bill on Thursday that would have expanded the ability of consumers to sue companies over their handling of personal data, a win for tech industry groups concerned about wide-ranging privacy lawsuits.

Under California’s data privacy law, which is set to take effect next year, consumers may file complaints to the state attorney general over alleged violations of privacy rules, but can sue over a data breach.

The new bill, introduced in February and endorsed by the attorney general, would have strengthened that law to enable consumers to sue over any alleged violations.

Adam Schwartz, a senior staff attorney at the San Francisco-based privacy group the Electronic Frontier Foundation, said the bill’s failure marked “a sad day for consumer data privacy.”

“The act last year was a start, and it puts in place good rules. But a law is only as good as its enforcement,” he said.

California’s law, the toughest in the United States, enables fines of up to $7,500 for intentional failure to disclose data collection or selling others’ data without permission.

As other states have begun drafting bills, Facebook Inc’s Mark Zuckerberg and other tech leaders have called for federal privacy legislation to set industry-wide guidelines for how personal data should be collected and used.

But tech lobbying groups have also said they would fight any legislative proposals that could open the door to a flurry of consumer lawsuits.

Fake News Alert: Any Finger Can Be Used For Marking A Ballot Paper, Says INEC

Today, 13th of February, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has debunk the information flying around that it is only the index finger (Warning Finger) that is allowed for marking a ballot paper.

According to the viral social media fake message, especially on WhatsApp claimed that;
“INEC has changed the pattern of voting without the majority of citizens being aware. You don't have to vote with your THUMB again. You vote with your INDEX FINGER ( Warning Finger). Any vote cast with the THUMB is void (cancelled) vote.

Man City 6-0 Chelsea: City Humiliated Chelsea At Etihad As The Blues Suffered Their Worst Defeat In 28 Years

Sergio Aguero grabbed a hat-trick as Manchester City humiliated Chelsea away in a half an hour blast off to move back to the top of the Premier League while shambolic Chelsea moved to 6th position.

Raheem Sterling scored the opening goal as he tapped his 13th goal of the season.

Sergio Aguero sliced wide when offered up a completely unmanned goal, but made up for it but thumping in an unstoppable blast from the edge of the area.

The Argentine doubled his tally and became City's all-time leading scorer outright with a simpler finish after a defensive mix-up.

Ilkay Gundogan also netted in the first quarter of the game as City ended what could have been a testing week with a trip to Everton in between the visits of Arsenal and Chelsea with maximum points.

Sterling returned to the score sheet in the last 10 minutes with another tap in after a stunning team move to complete the victory and condemn the Blues to their worst defeat in 28 years.

Chelsea striker, Gonzalo Higuain, had little chance to shine but the Argentine striker was unfortunate not to score his third goal of  the season.

Recall that Chelsea's 4-0 defeat to Bournemouth in their last away game was their heaviest league defeat since 1996.

Chelsea worst loss in any competition since 1991 after failing to recover from Sterling’s fourth-minute opener.

Bournemouth 4-0 Chelsea: Bournemouth Rubbed Salt In chelsea's Wounds

Bournemouth has put a further pressure on Chelsea's bid for Champions League qualification at Vitality Stadium.

Chelsea started the game well, with drive and motivation and pace and invention and impetus, but after about the first 20 minutes, the levels dropped and the Blues could never quite recover from that.

Chelsea were dismantled in the second half, with Josh King scoring twice and the outstanding David Brooks also netting for Bournemouth before Luke Daniels’ stoppage-time goal rubbed salt in the visitors’ wounds

Bournemouth were fortunate to be level at the interval as veteran goalkeeper Artur Boruc produced five impressive saves to deny a Chelsea side that failed to penetrate their hosts' defence despite 70% of possession.

But within a minute of the second half starting, Bournemouth took the lead as King arrived late in the Chelsea box to smash Brooks' cut-back past Kepa Arrizabalaga.

A second consecutive league win for Bournemouth sees the Cherries move up to 10th in the table, while Chelsea drop to fifth position on virtue of scoring fewer goals than Arsenal.

13 Ways To Boost Male Fertility And Increase Sperm Count

Global rates of infertility have remained relatively stable between 1990 and 2010, according to a study that compiled data from 277 national surveys in 190 countries. Research by the World Health Organisation (WHO) estimated that in 2010, 48.5 million couples worldwide were unable to have a child.

What Is Male infertility?

Male infertility refers to a male's inability to cause pregnancy in a fertile female. In humans it accounts for 40–50% of infertility. It affects approximately 7% of all men. Cesc Fabregas: ‘Thierry Henry Will Become A Great Coach’

Newly signed Monaco player, Cesc Fabregas believes Thierry Henry will still become a “top coach” despite lasting just three months in charge at struggling Monaco.

Having previously worked as an assistant coach with the Belgian national team, Henry was appointed as coach in October, breaking out on his own in management for the first time.

Fabregas, who shares the same agent as Henry, left Chelsea to team up with the former France striker when he signed a three-and-a-half-year deal for an undisclosed fee on January 11.

The midfielder had played just three games under Henry before the latter was sacked last week in a move which saw the principality club replace him with predecessor Leonardo Jardim.

“We are sad for ‘Titi’ because I really think he will be a top coach, I am sure of it,” Fabregas said on Monday of Henry, with whom he played at Arsenal earlier in his career.

“Football doesn’t wait and maybe it was not the right moment or he didn’t have the time to fulfil all his plans and everything he wanted to do. That is life, it happens.”

Mourinho Deserved More Respect From Manchester United, Says Rumelu Lukaku

Manchester United striker, Romelu Lukaku says his former manager, Jose Mourinho has done alot for the club and he deserved more respect from the job he oversaw.

Having been handed the reins at Old Trafford in the summer of 2016, a proven coach delivered three trophies in his debut campaign.

He was left empty-handed in his second, but returned United to the Premier League’s top four as they finished as runners-up behind record-breaking champions Manchester City.

Mourinho was expected to build on that platform, but endured a testing start to the 2018-19 campaign and was relieved of his duties in December.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has impressed as his successor, overseeing eight successive victories, but Lukaku is reluctant to be drawn on the differences between the manager who signed him for £75 million ($99m) and the one currently at the helm.

The Belgium international striker told Eleven Sports:
“I’m not going to compare the two managers.
“I believe that Mourinho has done a lot for this club.
“He won trophies, so I have a lot of respect for him.
“He is the coach who signed me.”

Angola Became The First Country In 2019 To Decriminalised Gay Sex

Angola is believed to be the first country to have decriminalised homosexuality in 2019, meaning its 29 million inhabitants are free to love whoever they want. They dropped a 'vices against nature' provision, which was historically used to prosecute against gay sex.

Yesterday, January 23, Angola became the first country in 2019 to decriminalise gay sex. Making it a well-rounded win, lawmakers also passed a bill that bans discrimination based on sexual orientation in employment. The bill passed with 155 votes in favor, one against and seven abstentions.

Angola’s previous penal code was written by the Portuguese when they ruled the country in 1886. As with many African countries, laws against homosexuality are remnants of the era of colonial rule — remnants we've held on to while the rest of the world has evolved.

A 2017 poll carried out by ILGA found that 61 percent of Angolans believed that LGB people should enjoy the same rights as heterosexual people.

Last year, India and Trinidad and Tobago decriminalised homosexuality. The Indian Supreme Court ruled that the anti-gay British-era penal code, similar to Angola’s, was unconstitutional. Lebanon, Tunisia, Singapore, Jamaica and Kenya also seem set to do the same this year.

69 countries in the world still criminalise consensual gay sex, including 34 out of 54 nations in Africa.

More Problem: Chris Brown Alleged Victim Says Alleged Rape Was "Brutal And Violent"

America singer and song writer, Christopher Maurice Brown popularly known as Chris Brown allegedly raped a woman in a hotel dressing room for 25-30 minutes and it was "brutal and violent" -- so says Closer Magazine, which posted an article claiming to have interviewed the alleged victim.

Closer, which broke the story Brown was being investigated for rape, calls the woman by a pseudonym -- Karima -- a 24-year-old model who told the mag she met Brown at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Paris on January 15 at around 10:30 PM and then went to a nightclub.

Karima told Closer at 4 AM Brown and his crew wanted to return to the hotel, and she said she was tired but they convinced her to go back to the Mandarin with a group of people.

She says once inside his suite, she went to the bathroom, Brown followed her and "catches me by the right arm. He makes me enter a sort of dressing room. He closed the door ... it lasted 25-30 minutes."

She describes the alleged rape as "brutal and violent." She says she was then "abused" by one of Brown's friends and a bodyguard.

Karima says she went to cops 2 days later, adding she was scared but ultimately decided she didn't want Brown to "be able to do the same things to other girls."

Someone connected to Brown tells us the singer was never alone with the alleged victim and says Chris' girlfriend, Ammika Harris, was in the hotel room the whole time. He says there were more than 20 people in the room "hanging out" and listening to music Brown was playing on his iPhone.

We have reached out to Brown's U.S. lawyer for a response, but so far no word back.

Christmas Market Gunman Shot Dead By French Police (Photo)

Cherif Chekatt, the suspect in the shooting in Strasbourg, France. Picture: French Police/APSource:AP
The French police on Thursday have shot dead a gunman who had been on the run since killing three people at Strasbourg’s Christmas market as the Islamic State jihadist group claimed him as one of its "soldiers".

Chekatt who had 27 criminal convictions, receiving the first at age 13, allegedly shouted “God is great!” in Arabic and sprayed gunfire during Tuesday’s rampage, where he also wounded 13 people.

Over 700 French security forces had been hunting for the callous 29-year-old Cherif Chekatt since the bloodshed on Tuesday night.

Some minutes before Cherif Chekatt was shot dead on Thursday evening local time, a helicopter with powerful searchlight flew over Neudorf.

According to the Interior Minister, Christophe Castaner, three police tried to question Chekatt after spotting him on the street in the Neudorf area of the northeastern French city where he grew up, but he opened fire.

“The police immediately returned fire and neutralized the assailant,” Castaner said.

People gathered at the police cordon where Chekatt was shot and applauded, some shouting "bravo!", a source said.

"It's really a huge relief," said Alain Fontanel, a local official in the mayor's office, describing the anxiety that locals had felt since Tuesday's attack.

"We didn't really feel very safe," one 18-year-old local named Arthur told AFP.

France has been hit by a wave of attacks from people claiming allegiance to Al Qaeda or IS since 2015, which have claimed the lives of nearly 250 people.

BREAKING: Floyd Mayweather Backs Out Of Fight With 20-Year-Old Kickboxer, Says He Was 'Blindsided'

American professional boxer, Floyd Mayweather, has dramatically appears to have backed out of a planned New Year’s Eve fight with 20-year-old Japanese kickboxer, Tenshin Nasukawa.

Less than three days after he appeared at a Tokyo press conference announcing the bout, claiming he was “blindsided” by the promoter regarding the nature and magnitude of the event

The 41-year-old had initially confirmed the bout for 31st of December 2018 during a press conference which took place on Sunday night in Tokyo. It was also understood that he revealed that he signed with Japanese mixed martial arts promotions company RIZIN Fighting Federation.

The five-division boxing champion said in an Instagram post on Wednesday that he had agreed to a three-round exhibition “purely for entertainment purposes with no intentions of being represented as an official fight card” and was “completely derailed by the new direction this event was going”.

Read his post on IG below;

He wrote:
Now that I am back on U.S. soil after a long and disappointing trip to Tokyo, I now have the time to address you, my fans and the media in regard to the upcoming event on December 31st that was recently announced. First and foremost, I want it to be clear that I, Floyd Mayweather, never agreed to an official bout with Tenshin Nasukawa. In fact (with all due respect) I have never heard of him until this recent trip to Japan. Ultimately, I was asked to participate in a 9 minute exhibition of 3 rounds with an opponent selected by the "Rizen Fighting Federation".
What I was originally informed of by Brent Johnson of "One Entertainment" was that this was to be an exhibition put on for a small group of wealthy spectators for a very large fee. This exhibition was previously arranged as a "Special Bout" purely for entertainment purposes with no intentions of being represented as an official fight card nor televised worldwide. Once I arrived to the press conference, my team and I were completely derailed by the new direction this event was going and we should have put a stop to it immediately.
I want to sincerely apologize to my fans for the very misleading information that was announced during this press conference and I can assure you that I too was completely blindsided by the arrangements that were being made without my consent nor approval.
For the sake of the several fans and attendees that flew in from all parts of the world to attend this past press conference, I was hesitant to create a huge disturbance by combating what was being said and for that I am truly sorry.
I am a retired boxer that earns an unprecedented amount of money, globally, for appearances, speaking engagements and occasional small exhibitions.

Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho was angrily confronted by Leonardo Bonucci when the Portuguese taunted the Juventus fans after Manchester United’s epic comeback in Turin.

Before things could escalate, Mourinho and Bonucci were separated as Ashley Young stepped in to keep the Juventus star away from his manager. Mourinho was then ushered off the pitch to avoid any more flash-points.
