China's Property Investment Fastest In Three Years But Sales Slow

China’s real estate investment posted its fastest year-to-date growth in three years and new construction accelerated in the first quarter, however, property sales slowed as borrowing costs rose and demand appeared to soften.

Property investment grew 10.4 percent in January-March from the same period a year earlier, compared with a 9.9 percent rise in the first two months, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed on Tuesday. This matched the year-to-date growth seen in the January-February 2015 period.

Real estate directly affects 40 other business sectors in China and is a major driver for the economy. But a boom since 2016 has raised bubble concerns and prompted a flurry of government measures to tame soaring home prices.

Chinese policymakers are seeking to engineer a soft landing without roiling the economy as a sharp decline in prices and investment would weigh on industrial activity and dampen consumer confidence.

The investment number mainly focuses on residential real estate but also includes commercial and office space.

For March alone, property investment grew a robust 10.8 percent from same period last year, according to Reuters calculations based on official data.

The solid property activity appeared to support broader growth in the first quarter. China’s economy grew 6.8 percent in the first quarter from a year earlier, slightly above expectations in a Reuters poll and unchanged from the previous quarter.

New construction starts measured by floor area, a gauge of developers’ confidence, were up 9.7 percent year-on-year in the first quarter, after slowing to 2.9 percent in January-February, NBS data showed.

Property investment is estimated to grow 5 percent in the full year of 2018 as tight supply and government policies that promote real estate in smaller cities are seen keeping the market relatively buoyant despite other cooling measures, a Reuters poll showed.

Investment growth is also likely to be further cushioned by a rush to build rental apartments as major Chinese developers respond to President Xi Jinping’s call for more rental supply to address people’s housing demand as affordability fades.

However, tightening measures are expected to be gradually extended to smaller cities seen at risk of overheating.

Property sales by floor area rose by 3.6 percent in January-March from a year ago, easing from a 4.1 percent gain in the first two months of the year, NBS data showed.

In March alone, property sales rose 3.2 percent, according to Reuters calculations based on NBS data.

Kenyan Woman Returns After Being Raped And Jailed In Saudi Arabia

A 27-year-old Kenyan woman has returned home after a one-year ordeal in a Saudi Arabian prison.

Levina Mapenzi Ngolo, who was jailed for allegedly engaging in illicit sex, returned home from Riyadh last Thursday night aboard an Ethiopian airliner.

In her arms was a two-year-old boy she says she conceived as a result of the rape.
Ngolo, who worked as a house help, said she was raped by an Indian migrant.

They were employed by the same person and stayed in the same flat. She said the man threatened her with a knife.

However, Ms Ngolo was charged, under Saudi Arabia’s law, with engaging in sex outside marriage and jailed. Her attacker is still serving his three-year jail term.

Ngolo said her legs were chained all the time she was in prison. She gave birth to her son in prison after a seven-month court battle.

She said she was handed back her passport at the airport, shortly before boarding the plane back to Kenya.

Ngolo, who spoke at her parents’ home in Frere Town in Mombasa, claimed her Indian attacker, a driver, raped her overnight in 2016.

“The driver took advantage of the absence of our employer to attack me. Our employer had gone to visit her children. He accosted me as I came out of the house,” said Ngolo.

While in prison, Ngolo said, inmates were often beaten but she was spared because of her pregnancy.

Ngolo’s sister, Esther Kaidza, said a Kenyan woman called in September 2016 to inform her that her sibling had been arrested.

“A woman who was speaking Arabic was the first one to call me but we were unable to communicate because of language barrier. Later, the Kenyan called me. She said Lavina was in custody for sleeping with a driver and becoming pregnant, contrary to the laws of that land,” Kaidza said.

Ngolo said she could not immediately report the incident to her employer for fear of the consequences.

But after some time, she started feeling sick. That is when her employer took her to hospital. She tested positive for pregnancy.

“It was my employer’s son who first expressed suspicions that I could be pregnant. After the truth came out, his mother suggested that I be quietly returned to Kenya. However, her son took me to a police station, where I was immediately arrested,” said Ngolo.

Her attacker was beaten up and taken to the police station. They were both charged with engaging in illicit sex.

Ngolo was sentenced to one year in jail because she did not consent to sex while the driver was jailed for three years. She said she was not allowed to attend clinic until she gave birth.

Her father, Ngolo Baya, 75, said he was happy to welcome his daughter and her baby back home.

"The entire family was shocked when we learnt of her arrest in a foreign country,” Baya said.

"I Killed My Father Because He Did Not Allow Me To Marry My Boyfriend", 16-Years Old Girl Says

A 16-year-old girl has been arrested for the brutal murder of her father for stopping her from getting married to her 24-year-old boyfriend, Nasiru Musa who is already married.

According to the reports, the suspect identified as Emani Kure was arrested by officers of the Abuja Police Command, for allegedly hacking her 40-year-old father, Kusha Kure, to death at their home in Karavan on March 11, 2018.

She carried out the dastardly act because the deceased had not been in support of her marital plans with her 24-year-old boyfriend, Nasiru Musa.

During her interrogation by the police, Emani said: “I killed my father because he did not allow me to marry my boyfriend.

"My father has beaten me several times, to stop me from marrying Nasiru. Around 3.00am on March 11, my mother told me while we were sleeping outside, to go into my father’s room where he was sleeping.

"She said that I should take his cutlass and kill him. I ran to where my father always keeps his cutlass and went to his room. I cut him on the neck with the cutlass while my mother held his leg.

"After killing him, I ran away to the house of my friend, Regina. Nasiru did not know that I wanted to kill my father. He was shocked when he heard that I killed my father.”

The 35-year-old wife of the deceased identified simply as Asabe, however, denied any involvement in the shocking act.

She said, ''I went to the Bwari Police Division to report that my husband was killed in his room.

"I told the police that I suspected my daughter and her boyfriend. Later the police arrested Nasiru and my daughter.

"She confessed to the crime but claimed that I gave her instruction to kill my husband. I was not involved in killing my husband."

Breaking: Trump Invites Buhari To Washington

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari will be the guest of US President Donald Trump on 30 April in Washington, the White House announced on Sunday.

According to the statement, Trump will discuss issues such as promoting economic growth and fighting terrorism with Buhari.

“The relationship of the United States with Nigeria is deep and strong, and Nigeria’s economic growth, security, and leadership in Africa will advance our mutual prosperity,” the statement said.

Nigeria has been combating the terrorist organization Boko Haram since 2009.

The State Department under Trump approved the sale of 12 high-technology attack planes and equipment worth $600 million to Nigeria last year after the Obama administration halted the sale because of accusations that Nigeria’s air force was bombing civilians.

The scheduled meeting will be the second between the two leaders. Last year September, the two leaders met on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, during a luncheon Trump held for a select group of African leaders.

President Buhari who came to power in 2015, announced last week Monday, that he plans to seek reelection in 2019.

The Nigerian leader who left Abuja for the U.K. On Monday, will attend the Commonwealth Heafs of Government Summit which begins in London on 18 April and ends on 20 April.

U.S. Concerned About Triggering Wider War As It Weighs Strike On Syria

U.S. Defense Secretary James Mattis testified April 12, 2018, that the role of the U.S. in Syria is to defeat Islamic State militants, not get involved in that country's civil war.

As the White House weighs a potential strike on Syria, a key concern is preventing the country's civil war from "escalating out of control," Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said Thursday.

Mattis said a decision had not been made about whether or how to strike Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime, which is accused of launching a chemical attack that killed dozens of people last weekend.

Decisions will be made "fairly soon," President Trump said. "It's too bad that the world puts us in a position like that."

Mattis spoke before a House Armed Services Committee hearing a day after Trump taunted Russia, warning of an attack in Syria.

"Get ready Russia, because they will be coming, nice and new and smart!” he tweeted, referring to U.S. missiles. “You shouldn’t be partners with a Gas Killing Animal who kills his people and enjoys it!"

Russia and Iran back Assad’s regime in a complicated civil war that has raged for seven years.

Earlier Thursday, Trump softened his rhetoric. "Never said when an attack on Syria would take place,” he tweeted. “Could be very soon or not so soon at all!"

The United States is attempting to calibrate its response to be strong enough to deter Assad from use of chemical weapons without destroying his government. A collapse of the Assad regime could lead to a political vacuum in Syria and a resurgence of the Islamic State.

The terror organization has been driven from most of the territory it held in Iraq and Syria, but pockets of militants remain, and the organization has proved resilient.

Asked about concerns in planning a strike on Assad's regime, Mattis cited worry over inadvertently causing civilian casualties and avoiding anything that would trigger a wider war.

“On a strategic level, it’s how do we keep this from escalating out of control,” he said.

Russia on Thursday warned the U.S. to avoid any steps that could destabilize the situation there.

“It’s necessary to avoid any steps that may fuel tensions in Syria," said Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin. He added it would have an “utterly destructive impact on the Syrian settlement.”

The United States launched cruise missiles at Assad’s armed forces last year after a similar gas attack. The attack destroyed Syrian aircraft but left Assad in power.

Mattis sought to assure lawmakers that any attack on Assad would not distract from the administration’s key policy in Syria: the destruction of the Islamic State, or ISIS.

“Our role in Syria is the defeat of ISIS,” he said. “We are not going to engage in the civil war itself.”

The Trump White House, like the Obama administration it replaced, supports peace efforts to resolve the civil war at the same time it backs local fighters battling the Islamic State. About 2,000 U.S. military personnel are in Syria.

“Our strategy remains the same as a year ago: to drive this to a U.N.-brokered peace, but at the same time keep our foot on the neck of ISIS until we suffocate it,” Mattis said.

Nicki Minaj Returns With A Vengeance With Two New Songs

Last week may have belonged to Cardi B and the release of her debut album Invasion of Privacy, but this week, it's Nicki Minaj's turn.

From this day forward, may April 12 be forever known as #Nickiday to commemorate the blessed events that just occurred:Nicki returned on Thursday with two singles, Chun-Li and Barbie Tingz, telling Zane Lowe on Apple Music's Beats 1 that a new album and world tour are both on their way.

Chun-Li is a perfectly fine release, but Barbie Tingz is the real highlight of the two tracks, a welcome reminder of Nicki's addictive flow over a beat that sounds made for summertime radio play. While Minaj possibly references her feud with fellow rapper Remy Ma on Barbie Tingz'  lyrics, rapping, "How you still dissin', still can’t find some hits," the afternoon's real drama came after both tracks' premieres, when Minaj brought up her rumored bad blood with Cardi over their Migos collaboration Motorsport.

Check out “Chun-Li” (yes, inspired by Street Fighter), a song that may bring back the Mai Tai as an acceptable cocktail:

And my personal favorite: “Barbie Tingz.” Both feature Nicki at her best: Cocky as hell, rapping over an undeniably great beat, refusing to be upstaged by anybody else’s new singles (especially he who used to be her snack supplier.)

Khloe Kardashian Has Given Birth To A Baby Girl Amid Tristan Thompson Cheating Scandal

Khloe Kardashian has given birth to her first child in Cleveland, Ohio, just days after a cheating scandal broke with troubled boyfriend Tristan Thompson.

The reality TV star was surrounded by sisters Kourtney and Kim Kardashian, and “momager”, Kris Jenner as she welcomed her daughter into the world.

Khloe delivered a baby girl early Thursday morning -- around 4 AM EDT -- at a hospital outside Cleveland

The birth arrived at the same time a cloud descended over Kardashian's relationship with Thompson. The NBA star has been accused of cheating on her in recent days, sparking a massive social media backlash.

On Tuesday, TMZ and Daily Mail published photos and video of a man they identified as the NBA basketball star kissing and fondling various women. One video was shot last Saturday inside a Manhattan club. The other, picturing two women kissing and groping him, was filmed last October in Washington, D.C.

Neither the Kardashian clan nor Thompson has commented on the rumors. Thompson is also the father of a 16-month-old son with ex-girlfriend Jordan Craig.

Khloe's younger sister Kylie, 20, gave birth to a baby girl named Stormi in February.

NYSC Members Now To Be Posted To Farms - Coordinator

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) says it will include farming and crop production as part of the one year primary assignment for corps members from the next service year.

According to Bello Ballama, the NYSC FCT Coordinator, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, said the move was to help address corps rejection by some corps employers through the engagement of more corps members in all aspects of farming and crop production.

The coordinator said that the move was also aimed at boosting the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Programme.Ballam said the scheme was therefore putting all its farms in good condition in readiness for corps members to commence its use.

“Corps members will be involved in all aspects of farming and crop production. This will not only support skills acquisition of NYSC but also governments plan of boosting agricultural production to improve self-reliance and achieve national growth and development.  From this 2018 Batch ‘A’ Stream I set of corps members who are commencing orientation on April 19, we are going to look into all the farm formations and centres to be able to post corps members there. We have farms in the FCT and many other states of the country; the present leadership of the scheme is poised to ensuring the revival of all NYSC facilities including the farms. The NYSC is faced with the challenge of engaging the increasing number of corps members mobilised every year. We therefore, have to take proactive steps towards achieving our mandate and supporting the federal government’s plans for youth development,”he said.

He said that the scheme was still faced with the challenge of corps members being rejected by organisations they were posted to carry out their one year primary assignment.

The coordinator said that in spite of discussion the scheme had with corps employers not to reject corps members, the NYSC was still faced with the problem every year.  He said that some corps employers do not provide accommodation and transportation to corps members who are left to suffer harsh living conditions.

“We have held a workshop with corps employers and have interacted with them and we look forward to a better relationship and working environment for corps members in the next year,“he said.

The NYSC had stated that the scheme would adopt agriculture as the major job creator for corps members.

Over 256 People Died In Algerian Military Plane Crash

No fewer than 257 people, including Western Sahara refugees, were killed when a military plane crashed near Algeria’s capital on Wednesday, with witnesses saying they saw a wing catch fire shortly after the plane took off.

Dozens of firefighters, rescue workers and military officials worked around the blackened fuselage of the aircraft, which had been ripped open near its wings.

Reuters reports that bits of mangled and smouldering debris were scattered across the field near Boufarik airport southwest of Algiers where people were searching for bodies among the rubble.

Earlier TV images showed flames and smoke billowing from the site of the crash, the country’s worst air disaster.

“This morning at around 8am an Ilyushin model military transport plane crashed directly after take-off in an agricultural field that was clear of residents,” Major General Boualem Madi told state TV.

A line of white body bags could be seen on the ground next to the wreck of what media said was a Russian Ilyushin Il-76 transport plane, part of which was still intact. Smoke was still billowing hours after the crash.

“After taking off, with the plane at a height of 150 metres I saw the fire on its wing. The pilot avoided crashing on the road when he changed the flight path to the field,” a witness, Abd El Karim, told the private Ennahar TV station.

Another witness said, “We saw bodies burned. It is a real disaster.”

A total of 257 people were killed, most of them military, the defence ministry said. Ten crew members and other people described as family members died, and a number of survivors were being treated at an army hospital, the ministry added.

The plane had been heading for Tindouf on the border with Western Sahara, Algeria’s defence ministry said.

One young man cried as he spoke to a local TV station about a relative who died in the crash.

“We talked on the phone yesterday evening (Tuesday) and he promised to call me again on arrival in Tindouf,” he said

Police Releases Statement On Man Allegedly Killed By SARS Operatives

Following the circulated on social media on Tuesday, 10th April 2018 alleging the beating of a man by SARS operatives along Haruna bus-stop, Ogba, Lagos, which eventually led to his death.

According to the PPRO, Chike Oti, after carrying out investigations, they found out that nothing of such happened and the incident was also not reported at any Police station.

The Lagos state Police command has released a statement stating that the allegations are unfounded.

The statement reads;
The attention of the Lagos State Police Command has been drawn to the news making the rounds on the social media that SARS operatives, on Monday 9th of April, 2018, beat a citizen until he was dead.

Based on the video clip of the incident which went viral on the social media, the Command began an investigation into matter.

Part of its findings was that no such incident took place at Haruna Bus stop, Ogba on Monday 9th April,2018; there was no record of it being reported at any of the police formations within Ogba Area Command nor was it reported at any of the Command’s complaint platforms.

Besides the above, it is a common knowledge that such an incident cannot happen in the city of Lagos without an uproar at the venue of incident; it is in this regards that plain clothes detectives were deployed to enquire from the people living and doing business around the popular Haruna bus stop whether such incident ever happened in their area and not a few were embarrassed by such question because according to them it never happened.

The Command therefore wishes to advise the public to take unverified news emanating from social media platforms with a pinch of salt. Media houses of all categories are also advised to seek confirmation of information available to them from the police before pushing it out to the public.

Real Madrid 3-1 Juventus: Cristiano Ronaldo take Real Madrid Through To The Champions League Semi-Finals (All Goals & Highlights)

Untoppable Cristiano Ronaldo smashed home a penalty in the seventh minute of stoppage time to take Real Madrid through to the Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday night, despite a 3-1 defeat on the night to Juventus after a remarkable comeback attempt by the Italians.

After leading 3-0 after the first leg, Real was down 3-0 to Juventus in stoppage time when Lucas Vazquez was taken down in the box by Medhi Benatia. The ref gave the penalty kick, and Ronaldo converted it in the 98th-minute to see Real go through 4-3 on aggregate.

Then, it happened
At 3-3, the match was on its way for extra time. One more goal from other team would likely be the winner, and though Real Madrid had some chances, a goal seemed unlikely. That is until Ronaldo headed down to Vazquez in the box. And the penalty was called, before things went bonkers:

Backup goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny comes in to try and stop Ronaldo's potential winner, and Ronaldo doesn't miss.

Shocked As Mum Crushed By Her Own Car With Baby Inside After Failing To Put Handbrake On

A 25 year old mother was crushed to death under the wheels of her own BMW after she failed to set the handbrake properly, an inquest heard.

Sameha Mahmood was killed on the steep driveway of her parents’ home when the car – which still had her daughter inside – rolled over her.

Sameha had driven her car to her parents' house to pick up her mother, Zahida Akhtar, for a birthday celebration at her aunt’s home. She phoned her mother at around 8.20pm to tell her she was waiting outside. However when Mrs Akhtar went outside three minutes later, all she could see was her daughter’s shoes strewn on the driveway and her car at the bottom of the drive in Whitelands Road, High Wycombe, England.

Mrs Akhtar said: "It was strange, like she was trying to run and was leaving her shoes behind".

Mrs Akhtar shouted out her daughter’s name but it was not until a passer-by suggested looking underneath the car that she discovered she had been crushed.

She said: "When I looked down I was shocked. I saw her on one side and I started screaming for help. I could see she was not breathing."

The inquest in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, heard that Mrs Akhtar’s son, Mohammed Usman Mahmood, was inside the house in his bedroom at the time. He described how he heard a thud "like someone was dropping a wheelie bin" and then someone screaming for two to three seconds. When he went outside he saw his mother repeatedly screaming at a man, saying "save my daughter" and "get her out from under the car".

His statement said: "I could see my sister’s baby in the child seat in the rear of the BMW and my mother was just screaming and screaming. I gave the baby to my mum and told her to take her inside."

The inquest was told that around 15 to 20 neighbours rushed outside their homes and used car jacks and bricks to try to lift the car off Sameha. Mohammed described to the coroner how he opened the driver’s door and pulled the handbrake up after finding it had not been applied.

Zuckerberg Resists Effort By U.S. Senators To Commit Him To Regulation

Facebook Inc Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg on Tuesday navigated through the first of two U.S. congressional hearings without making any further promises to support new legislation or change how the social network does business.

During nearly five hours of questioning by 44 U.S. senators, Zuckerberg repeated apologies he previously made for a range of problems that have beset Facebook, from a lack of data protection to Russian agents using Facebook to influence U.S. elections.

But the 33-year-old internet mogul managed to deflect any specific promises to support any congressional regulation of the world’s largest social media network and other U.S. internet companies.

“I’ll have my team follow up with you so that way we can have this discussion across the different categories where I think this discussion needs to happen,” Zuckerberg told a joint hearing by the U.S. Senate’s Commerce and Judiciary committees, when asked what regulations he thought were necessary.

Investors were impressed with his performance. Shares in Facebook posted their biggest daily gain in nearly two years, closing up 4.5 percent.

The shares fell steeply last month after it came to light that millions of users’ personal information was harvested from Facebook by Cambridge Analytica, a political consultancy that has counted U.S. President Donald Trump’s election campaign among its clients. The latest estimate of affected users is up to 87 million.

That disclosure pitched Facebook into a crisis of confidence among users, advertisers, employees and investors who were already struggling with Facebook’s reaction to fake news and its role in the 2016 election.

Facebook disclosed in September that Russians under fake names used the social network to try to influence U.S. voters in the months before and after the 2016 election, writing about inflammatory subjects, setting up events and buying ads.

“We believe it is entirely possible that there will be a connection there,” Zuckerberg said when asked if there was overlap between Cambridge Analytica’s harvested user data and the political propaganda pushed by the Kremlin-linked Internet Research Agency during the 2016 presidential election, which Facebook has said was seen by some 126 million people.

OAU Student Releases Phone Conversation Of Alleged Sex Demand By Lecturer, Professor (Audio)

The Congress of University Academics at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State, and the National Association of Nigerian Students have asked the university to investigate the matter into the alleged sex-for-mark scandal against a lecturer of the institution.

This follows an alleged recording of a phone conversation between the student and the lecturer.

The congress said the lecturer, if found guilty of the allegation, was not fit to be in an academic environment.

The Chairman, Congress of University Academics at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Dr Niyi Sumonu, said, “If it is established that this is true, the person, who perpetrated that does not belong to the academic environment. We are supposed to mould the lives of the students – males and females.”

In the four-minute audio clip, the lecturer was heard demanding sex with the yet-to-be identified student five times before he could upgrade her 33 marks to a pass.

However, the student rejected the overtures on the grounds that the number of the romp did not commensurate with the pass mark the lecturer wanted to give her.

The following dialogue was recorded:

Student: Hello Sir, Professor (name withheld), yesterday you said something, but because I was close to my boyfriend, I could not say anything. You said you’ve submitted it.

Lecturer: I gave you an opportunity and you missed it. Forget about it. You will do it next year.

Student: I was calling to confirm whether you were serious about it.

Lecturer: Me that agreed to do something. I know what I meant. If you don’t trust me, forget about it. If I wouldn’t do it, why should I give you audience in the first place? If I am not interested in doing it, I won’t give you audience in the first instance.

The other person has come and I told her straight away because there is nothing I can do to bail that person out and her own mark is even more than your own. The person scored 39 while your own is 33. Only two people failed the exam. So, what else do you want me to do? You can see it anytime you come, we are at Moro doing exam, we are doing MBA executive exam. They are just starting. I will finish by 4:30pm and maybe 5, I should be in the office. If you are ready, come by 5pm…. Why did you tell me you were doing your period the other time?

Student: I was really doing my period, Professor (name withheld).

Lecturer: Stop mentioning my name; and now nko?

Student: I am not doing my period again.

Lecturer: Your boyfriend has done it yesterday?

Student: Is it every time that someone will be doing it with the boyfriend? Is it every time you do it with your wife?

Lecturer: Yes

Student: It’s a lie, not possible. So, (Course) 411; what’s the plan now?

Lecturer: Let’s have the first one today and then we will do another one tomorrow.

Student: Ehnn, se kini yen je bi ounje ni (Is that thing like food)?

Lecturer: Our agreement is five (times)?

Student: Is it D you want to give me or E? Why would it be five times you will knack me?

Lecturer: That’s what I will do.

Student: Prof, you know what? Let me fail it. I can’t do it five times; for what nah? No worry. Thank you, sir

Lecturer: You are welcome.

Amazing Health Benefits Of Pineapple

Pineapple, also known as ananas, is a delicious tropical fruit that is surrounded by thorny spikes and topped with hard, waxy leaves that are sometimes up to thirty per fruit. The fruit is up to a foot long and has a combination of sweet and tart taste.

Pineapple belongs to the Bromeliaceae family and is actually a composite fruit made of coalesced berries that grow at the crown of a fruiting tree. The name pineapple evolved in the 17th century due to its structure and appearance being similar to pine cones.

The pineapple fruit is known to offer several benefits. Let us discuss each benefit in detail below.

Treats Arthritis

One of the most celebrated uses of pineapple in terms of health is its ability to reduce the inflammation of joints and muscles, particularly those associated with arthritis, a debilitating disease that affects millions of people around the world. Pineapple contains a relatively rare proteolytic enzyme called bromelain, which is primarily associated with breaking down complex proteins and has serious anti-inflammatory effects. Bromelain is also positively correlated with reducing the signs and symptoms of arthritis in many.

Boosts Immunity

A single serving of pineapple has more than 130% of the dailyrequirement of vitamin C for human beings, making it one of the richest and most delicious sources of ascorbic acid.

Pineapple contains all of the recommended daily value of vitamin C, according to the FDA. Vitamin C is a primary water-soluble antioxidant that fights cell damage, according to the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University. This makes vitamin C a helpful fighter against problems such as heart disease and joint pain.

Vitamin C helps in reducing illnesses and boosting the immune system by stimulating the activity of white blood cells and acting as an antioxidant to defend against the harmful effects of free radicals. Free radicals are dangerous byproducts of cellularmetabolism that can damage various organ systems and disrupt function, as well as cause healthy cells to mutate into cancerous ones. The vitamin C content of pineapple defends against this.

Speeds-up Wound Healing

One of the commonly overlooked benefits of vitamin C is its essential role in creating collagen. This is partly the reason why it is seen as ahealing vitamin because collagen is the essential protein base of blood vessel walls, skin, organs, and bones. High vitamin C content in pineapple helps you heal wounds and injuries quickly, and also defends your body against infections and illnesses.

Prevents Cancer

Pineapple has been directly related to preventing cancers of the mouth, throat, and breast, as it is rich in various antioxidants, including vitamin A, beta carotene, bromelain, various flavonoid compounds, and high levels of manganese. Manganese is an important cofactor of superoxide dismutase, an extremely potent free radical scavenger that has been associated with a number of different cancers.

Aids in Digestion

Eating pineapples regularly can protect you from a vast amount of health conditions, includingconstipation, diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome, atherosclerosis, and blood clotting, as well as high blood pressure. Pineapple, being rich in fiber, promotes the passage of food through the digestive tract at a normal rate and stimulates the release of gastric and digestive juices to help food dissolve. It also bulks up the loose stool, which helps in treating diarrhea and IBS. Furthermore, the bromelain in pineapple stimulates protein digestion, reduces gut inflammation, and therefore, treats digestive diseases.

Treats Cough and Cold

Pineapple is rich in both bromelain and vitamin C, therefore eating pineapple helps in preventing and treating respiratory illnesses, while eliminating phlegm and mucus from your body if you’ve already contracted an illness or infection. The immune system boosting property of vitamin C is well known, but the special enzyme, bromelain, is also connected with the reduction of phlegm and mucus build up in the respiratory tracts and sinus cavities.

Bone strength

Pineapple may help you keep standing tall and strong. The fruit contains nearly 75 percent of the daily-recommended value of the mineral manganese, which is essential in developing strong bones and connective tissue, according to the Linus Pauling Institute. One 1994 study suggested that manganese, along with other trace minerals, may be helpful in preventing osteoporosis in post-menopausal women.

Eye health

“Pineapples can help reduce the risk of macular degeneration, a disease that affects the eyes as people age, due in part to its high amount of vitamin C and the antioxidants it contains,” Flores said.

Improves Oral Health

Along with the antioxidant compounds that protect against oral cancer, pineapple also has astringent properties, whichstrengthen gums and teeth. Astringent agents help tighten up tissues and tone the body so that tooth loss, hair loss, muscle weakness and skin loosening do not occur. Pineapple is a very powerful astringent and is often prescribed as a natural remedy to fix the loosening of teeth or for the retraction of gums.

Josep Guardiola, Man. City manager

To go through we need almost the perfect game – create chances, be clinical and allow few chances. All the conditions have to be perfect to go through. But in football everything can happen. If we concede, don't give up. Many times we created a lot of chances in a short period of time. We have to be clinical and if we're not clinical then move on to the next one.

Jürgen Klopp, Liverpool manager

If [this tie] was how everyone expected, then we'd already be halfway out and here to keep our pride and show a response. When we lost 5-0 here at the beginning of the season ... it was clear they'd be outstanding but there is no perfect football team in the world. I knew before that they can concede goals and we can concede goals too, and lose.
